Trusses sit under hot roof sheets where condensation forms every single night of the wet season, and the first visible sign — rust streaks on the ceiling — usually means the steel above has been corroding for two or three years already. What Steel Structure Protection Includes
Structural Inspection
Every truss, purlin and connection plate checked and photographed. We measure remaining steel thickness at the worst points so you know what is cosmetic and what is structural.
Mechanical Prep at Height
Wire-wheel and needle-gun cleaning of rust scale, done from scaffolding or harnessed access. Dust sheets protect everything below.
Zinc Primer + Build Coat
Zinc-phosphate primer on cleaned steel, followed by a high-build intermediate coat — total dry film 150–200 microns on structural members.
Problem-Spot Engineering
Water-trapping details (back-to-back angles, unsealed gaps) get sealed or given drainage so the same corrosion does not restart in the same place.
Condensation, Not Rain, Kills Roof Steel
Most owners assume roof steel rusts because of leaks. In Bali the bigger culprit is condensation: metal roof sheets cool fast after sunset, moisture condenses on their underside and drips onto trusses night after night, eleven months a year. Add salt-laden air in coastal areas like Sanur or Canggu and unpainted truss steel can lose a critical amount of section in 5–7 years. Open structures — restaurant canopies, carports, pergolas, gym frames — corrode even faster because they get rain and salt directly. For those we recommend the same coating build we use on roof trusses, or a full marine-grade system within sight of the ocean. Where rust has already eaten connection plates, we work with a licensed welder to replace steel before coating.
